The same biochar, seven different answers
Every standard sets its own permanence rules, its own thresholds and its own horizon. A batch that one registry rewards handsomely can fall the wrong side of another’s gate and earn nothing. Choosing well is worth real money, and choosing well requires knowing your chemistry.
Registry standards modelled, each ported from its own published methodology — not approximated by a single generic formula.
Laboratory measurements decide the outcome: organic carbon, H/Corg, inertinite fraction and mean reflectance. Temperature alone cannot tell you them.
What a single wrong choice of standard can cost. Several registries gate off entirely above a threshold, crediting nothing for material that others would pay for.

The seven standards
Each one is implemented from its own published methodology and verified against our reference workbook to the last decimal. None of them is an approximation of another.
What these figures are. The Optimiser reports gross model output for scenario planning. It makes no deduction for sample variance, uncertainty, buffer pools, reversal risk, leakage, lifecycle or project emissions, or any registry’s own deductions and eligibility rules.
They are not issued credits, not a certification, not a verification, and not financial advice. Fusinite is not a registry and not a Validation and Verification Body. Enrolment decisions need the full methodology of the standard concerned. Methodology versions checked 5 August 2026.
Modelling requires laboratory analysis of your biochar. Samples appear in the Optimiser once analysis is complete. Producers who have not sent us anything yet can still use the Range Finder, which estimates the spread between standards from your production temperature and carbon content — it reports a range, never a prediction.
