Inertinite: The Pinnacle of Carbon Storage Security

Inertinite is the most stable form of carbon storage found in nature, known for its resilience over geological time periods. At Fusinite, we have created a special certification for biochar products that meet the highest standards of carbon stability: the Inertinite Gold Certificate.

Products containing over 95% inertinite content qualify for this prestigious certification. Inertinite-rich biochar, identified through a combination of optical microscopy, random reflectance analysis, is considered the most permanent form of carbon storage, making it highly sought after in the voluntary carbon market.

The Value of the Inertinite Biochar Label

When a product earns Fusinite’s Inertinite Gold Certification, it is not just a document; it is a statement of trust, prestige, and assurance. This certification ensures that your biochar is recognized as the highest quality in terms of carbon storage security, similar to the stable forms of carbon found in geological  sedimentary basins.

The Inertinite Gold Certificate enables buyers and regulators to credibly demonstrate their commitment to addressing climate change through the purchase of products with guaranteed long-term carbon sequestration. This certification is available directly online to carbon creditors, regulators, and buyers, simplifying the transaction process and helping you secure the highest possible price in the market.

What is biochar certification?

Biochar certification is the process of scientifically analysing a biochar sample to determine its carbon storage potential. Once we analysed the sample, we issue a certification report detailing the results. This certification can be used in carbon trading markets or to verify the quality of biochar for regulatory compliance.

What is the process for submitting a biochar sample?

Once you purchase a sample test on our website, you will receive a sample tag with a unique reference number and barcode. You must label your sample with this tag and follow the packaging instructions provided. After packaging, you can choose your preferred shipping method. Please note that shipping costs are the responsibility of the Client.

How do I access my certification and reports?

Fusinite operates through a secure Client Portal, where all reports and certifications are accessible. After submitting your samples, you will be able to log into your portal to view results, charts, and historical data. The portal offers customizable filtering options to help you sort and review your data. You can print or download reports directly from the portal in the format that suits you best.

Can third parties submit samples for analysis?

Yes, third parties can submit samples for analysis using the same process as other Clients.

Can blind samples be sent for analysis?

Yes, you have the option to submit blind samples without accompanying data. However, the report may be incomplete, as some sections of the generated graphs and results require the declared data for accuracy. The more accurate your declaration, the better the quality of the reporting.

What kind of analysis do you perform to generate carbon storage reports?

We use two main methods: microscopic random reflectance and pyrolysis analysis. The final report combines data generated from these methods to provide a comprehensive assessment of carbon storage potential.

What if I don’t have accessory data for my sample (e.g., ultimate or proximate analysis, elemental analysis)?

If your sample lacks accessory data, we can provide these analyses through third-party providers at competitive pricing. Quality assurance is overseen by Fusinite Ltd. Please contact us to discuss your analytical needs, and we will be happy to assist you. We also offer a free 30-minute online consultation to guide you through the pre-analysis process.

What is a Premium Membership, and what are its benefits?

Premium Membership is a subscription service that offers several benefits, including:

• Discounts on regular sample submissions.

• One free 30-minute consultation per sample shipment.

• Priority support and processing of samples.

Premium members pay a monthly fee, which is automatically billed, and they can cancel with three months’ notice.

What if I want to cancel my membership?

You can cancel your Premium Membership at any time by providing three months’ notice. You will continue to receive benefits during this period and will not be charged after the three months have elapsed.

Do you share samples with third-party labs?

Yes, as part of our analysis process, we may send your samples to third-party labs for additional testing. Fusinite covers the costs of shipping and third-party testing. However, you should be aware that some sample-related data (such as composition) may be shared with these labs. Personal or company data is not shared unless necessary for shipping or invoicing.

What if I want to use the data for my own research?

You are free to use the data provided in the certification for your internal research or reporting purposes. However, Fusinite retains ownership of the certification process, and any use of our certification for public reporting should give proper attribution.

What happens if the biochar sample fails the certification test?

If your biochar does not meet the required standards for certification, we do not provide any additional reports beyond the standard analysis report that we issue for all samples. In this case, you will not receive the Inertinite Gold Certificate, which is issued for biochar that achieves an inertinite level of over 95%. However, you can benefit from an online consultation (free for Premium members or paid for Free members) for advice on improving your procedures

What is the Inertinite Gold Certificate?

The Inertinite Gold Certificate is a special certification awarded to biochar samples that achieve an inertinite level of over 95%, recognized as the most stable form of carbon storage. This certificate is provided digitally through the portal, where it can be downloaded in standard formats. Third parties can verify this certificate for regulatory or trading purposes.

What are the benefits of submitting multiple samples?

We encourage multiple sample submissions, especially for Premium members, who save significantly when submitting batches instead of individual samples. Multiple submissions also reduce shipping costs, and the data tends to be more robust, offering better insights into biochar quality.

What if I need additional services?

If you need additional services such as further testing or more in-depth analysis, please contact us. We can provide tailored services based on your requirements and will discuss any additional fees with you before proceeding.

How do I get started?

To get started, simply create an account on our website, purchase the services you need, and follow the instructions for submitting your biochar sample. If you need any help, feel free to contact us through the website.
